Frequently Asked Questions

It's good to know this stuff!

Q: Tarot? What's that? What is this? Where am I?
A: Look over here, my friend!

Q: This site doesn't have anything to do with hoodoo-voodoo, does it?
A: No, it does not.

Q: Is this some kind of art gallery?
A: Yes! It's a gallery of artwork relating to Tarot created by webcomic artists.

Q: Well, it sounds interesting, and I have a webcomic. I want in!
A: Great! Find out how to here and get to signing up!

Q: Do I have to draw in a particular style to join in?
A: Nope! All styles, genres, levels of humor, digital/traditional, and whatever else have you are acceptible. Please do your own thing! Make it detailed or simple - make something that represents your comic, with its own symbolism, if desired!

Q: So I'm free to interpret the cards in my own way?
A: Yep! As far as that goes, you're free. Just make sure that it relates to your webcomic somehow.

Q: Does my card have to be in full color?
A: It would be preferred, but limited palettes are also fine - just create a finished-looking image! Please, no rough sketches or plain lineart.

Q: Do I have to create something completely new for this project?
A: Yes! It'd be preferred. Please don't recycle older artwork or comic pages/frames (or, if you do, don't make them the sole/focus part of your card).

Q: Is there a template?
A: Yes! It's optional, but some (like you) may prefer it, and I'd even recommend it! Download it here.

Q: What if I don't want to use a template?
A: Then please keep your picture at least Tarot-card-shaped, twice as tall as it is wide.

Q: Does it have to be any specific file format/resolution?
A: When sending it to me, JPG and PNG are always best! Try not to make the submitted-for-display files too huge (but it's a good idea to make the originals high-resolution, like 300DPI).

Q: Is there a rating limit to the content of my card(s)?
A: It'd be nice if you kept your card(s) tasteful or publicly viewable at least, but up to an "R" rating is fine. (Note that we can't host anything explicit, anyway.)

Q: How old should I be to be able to join?
A: You can be any age! But you should probably be old enough to browse the internet at will.

Q: When's the deadline?
A: Technically, there is none! This is intended to be a low-key, for-fun project made to be enjoyed by creators and fans alike. However, I expect to see something submitted within a few months of signing up, so keep that in mind!

Q: Oh no! I wanted to choose ____, but X has it already! What do I do?
A: Unfortunately, nothing. It's first-come, first, served, unless the below happens...

Q: Augh, something happened and I can't participate anymore. :( May I relinquish my card?
A: Yes you may! It will then be available for someone else to take. No backsies! Consider carefully!

Q: Wait, hold on - can you put up what I got done instead?
A: I'm afraid I'll have to turn down half-finished images. If you do happen to finish it in the future, though, I may feature it in some way. :D

Q: I'm kind of taking my sweet time... Are you gonna kick me out if I take too long?
A: Maybe! I'll give you an occasional (read: quadranual) prod to see if you're still working on it. I want to be sure you're actually making something. :) Note: if your comic (and, along with it, your contact information) completely ceases to exist, I may remove your slot reservation without warning.

Q: Are these going to be printed as an actual deck?
A: We don't have any plans to print right now, as it tends to get expensive, but if enough interest is generated from the webcomics' fanbases, we might look into it. :D So, "Maybe!"

Q: My work is still my work after submitted, right?
A: Of course! Even if it does go to print, the copyright on your art and its contents are still 100% yours. As such, you can still do whatever you like with your Tarot piece, too.

Q: I have a sprite comic/my Star Wars spoof comic is awesome. Can I be in?
A: Sorry, but for the sake of copyrights and originality, only drawn and original comics (not based off of/derivative of anything, that is) will be accepted. (Original sprite comics would be accepted, but I actually have yet to see anyone sprite their own comic.)

Q: I have more than one webcomic! Can I do a card for each?
A: Yeah, sure! As long as it's no more than two webcomics, for the sake of creator diversity.

Q: I don't have a webcomic, but I wanna join!!
A: Then you'd better start one and get 10 pages up ASAP!

Q: Well, I'm kind of starting a webcomic. I've got three pages up! How about that?
A: You must have at least 10 pages of your comic up and be working on it in order to submit. That way your comic has enough substance for promotion!

Q: The character I want to draw hasn't shown up in my comic yet! What do I do?!
A: I'd recommend drawing it nonetheless, unless it's very spoilery and that would be a problem for you.

Q: My webcomic may be ending soon...
A: That's fine! I like hilighting webcomics that have seen their way to completion -- so a webcomic well on its way to being complete is great! I'd prefer if there was still a good amount of time left before ending. I'd also prefer if it wasn't already ended.
